Asian Tsunami
On December 26, 2004, in one of history's most deadly natural disasters, an earthquake off the coast of Indonesia caused a tsunami that killed 230,000 people in 14 countries around the Indian Ocean. In Indonesia, entire villages and half the city of Banda Aceh were obliterated. Coastal areas in southern Thailand were also devastated, including the little village of Nam Khem, where nearly half the residents were dead or missing.
